Just add water! Lip balms typically lack water, so they don't actually deposit moisture. Softwear combines glycerin - the gold standard humectant for hydration - with water to immediately increase hydration in the lips.

0.2% HYDROXYCAPRYLIC ACID

This gentle chemical exfoliant is a lipophilic (oil-loving) AHA that helps stimulate cell turnover to smooth crusty lips without irritation.

10% POMEGRANATE STEROLS + PETROLATUM

These two occlusives work together to help enhance the lip barrier function, protecting from dryness and discomfort by locking in moisture.

63% SQUALANE

A nourishing, non-sticky base of Squalane, similar to ‘squalene’ naturally present in the skin, softens and replenishes lips.

Is it possible to over-exfoliate with Softwear?

Hydroxycaprylic Acid is the chemical exfoliant that powers Softwear’s smoothing capabilities. This lipophilic (oil loving) AHA has a large molecule size, meaning it has a lower irritation profile than AHAs like glycolic and lactic acid. It helps slough off of dead skin cells removing those dry crusties, revealing soft, smooth lips. Knowing that lip balms are used frequently throughout the day, it’s included at a low, but efficacious level.

Is Softwear glossy? Is it sticky??

Softwear is a true lip balm, not a gloss. It glides on clear with a medium shine and leaves a balmy dewy finish. Due to the squalane base, the formula isn’t sticky– we promise.

“A new staple product”

I LOVE these! They have an interesting texture where they form a waxy layer over your lips, but it's not sticky and it's hydrating. I have sensitive, fragrance allergic lips and these are a welcome addition to my routine. They don't hurt or irritate either. Please expand your tints!

“Moisturizing, Great Customer Service, Allergy Friendly <3”

I'm loving this lip gloss/chapstick. I was a long time aquaphor user because I am allergic to fragrance, flavors, colorants, gluten, etc. This stuff is more moisturizing than aquaphor and helps exfoliate my chronic dry lips. Because I have Celiac Disease, before purchasing, I contacted Experiment to check that their ingredients and manufacturing process was gluten free. They had their R&D team look into it and checked with their manufacturer for cross contamination to make sure it was safe. I super appreciate the customer service and the product!! I've already ordered 3 more.

The best lip balm I’ve ever used. I do not say this lightly. I have probably tried hundreds of lip balm’s but this one is it. This one’s the best. First point is the formula and ingredients are *chefs kiss* perfection. I don’t know how the people at the lab are capable of doing it, but somehow they make this thick and cushiony without making it tacky, sticky, or gluey. It’s like a hug for your lips. The soft applicator is a huge plus as well. The longevity of this lip balm is down right baffling. It even lasts through eating and drinking throughout the day. Just amazing. 1000/10 highly recommend. If you get one thing from this brand, please try this.
