Ingredients

0.5% EPIDERMAL LIPID COMPLEX

Ceramide NP, Free Fatty Acids, and Acai Sterols are blended to mimic the golden ratio found in your skin, which has been clinically proven to help accelerate barrier recovery. While petrolatum works immediately, this complex works overtime to repair the skin barrier long term.

3% PETROLATUM

This gold standard occlusive - and dermatologist favorite - forms a barrier on the surface of the skin, immediately preventing moisture loss and locking juicy hydration in. We’re using it in a semi-occlusive “microdose”, making it appropriate for daily use, for any skin type.

80% BIO-LIPID BLEND

A blend of non-comedogenic oils (Jojoba Oil, Squalane, Safflower Oil) mimic the natural triglycerides, squalane, wax esters, and free fatty acids found in the sebum.

1.6% SKIN SOOTHERS

A comforting combo of oat oil, panthenyl triacetate, and green tea wax that reduces redness and irritation for skin that not only feels better, but also heals better.

This product is vegan and does not contain any animal derived ingredients.

FAQs

Is this product lightweight?

The best way to describe the texture of Buffer Jelly is between a facial oil and a balm… but we not-so-secretly think it’s a little jelly-like. So it’s going to feel a teeny bit heavier than a traditional oil, but much lighter than a balm! Plus, the finish is soft, emollient, and glowy, without feeling greasy, sticky, or thick like traditional slugging ointments.

Is it suitable for oily, acne-prone skin? How about on top of my acne treatments?

Buffer Jelly was created specifically to relieve dry, sensitive, compromised skin, but we kept all skin types in mind when formulating. All ingredients were screened for comedogenicity, but it’s always safe to patch test if you’re unsure!

Because Buffer Jelly is semi-occlusive, it doesn’t completely ‘trap’ actives and enhance penetration/irritation like pure petrolatum. However, everyone’s skin is different so again, we recommend patch testing if you have particularly sensitive skin.

Do I need to use a moisturizer with Buffer Jelly?

Nope! Buffer Jelly can be used directly after application of toners/serums. But you can also DIY a custom moisturizer by mixing it into your fave hydrating serum, like Super Saturated. So experiment freely and get your goo on!

WHAT IS MICRO-SLUGGING?

Using petrolatum to seal in your skin’s moisture, aka “slugging”, has been a cult classic practice for centuries for good reason– it works! But it isn’t exactly for everyone… so we invented “ micro-slugging”! A “microdose ” of petrolatum in a barrier boosting product to semi-occlude your skin, lightly sealing in moisture. “my textured, acne prone skin loves this product!!”

i’ve never left a review on a product, but i had to leave a review for buffer jelly!!! I live in a very dry climate, so my skin always absorbs my moisturizer so quick and my skin is left feeling rough and textured, so i’ve been looking for a lightweight occlusive that will not trigger my acne prone skin. granted, ive only used this product a few times, but i am in LOVE!!! i have been struggling with acne and texture for a few years now, but the appearance of my skin texture has dramatically gone down these past few days that i’ve been using buffer jelly!! my skin looks so radiant and glowy when i use it, and i have not felt this confident in my skin for years!!! thank you, experiment!!!!

I like the product that comes out of the bottle. It really helps lock in moisture before bed and I'll probably be using it every night as it becomes winter and the air gets drier. I just have one gripe about the packaging. The words in green have been flaking off of the bottle and getting green flakes on my hands, almost to the point that all the words have been wiped off the lighter green bottle. If you solve this issue I will happily buy another one in the future!
